3 Reasons Your Grass Is Dying

Jose Wheeler

Every homeowner would like to have a beautiful yard, but for some it may seem like it takes too much time and effort to really get the results that you want. This is why it is important to make sure that you are avoiding making some common mistakes when it comes to caring for your yard. Here are some of the reasons why your yard is dying.

1. You Aren't Watering It Right

Too many people don't realize how important watering is. It is important that it happen in the right amount and at the right time of day. For example, you should make sure that you watering your lawn in the morning. That is the ideal time to water. This gives the water enough chance to get into the roots before the sun fully comes up. Then if there is any excess it will be evaporated. Conversely, some people try to water in the evening, and if they do this, any excess water will sit on the roots and choke it out. People who water during the afternoon or the hottest part of the day, risk the water being evaporated too soon so that it doesn't have time to really get to the roots. For this reason, you should water your yard in the mornings. It will give you the best results.

2. You Have Bugs

For too many people, the bugs are the main reason that their lawn is dying. If you have patches of dead grass, but you feel like you are watering enough, it could be that you have landscaping bugs. Landscaping bugs are more common than most people realize, and because of this, their yard dies. You can have a pest control company come, or you can buy the bug killer on your own, just make sure that the substance you use doesn't kill the grass as well.

3. You Aren't Fertilizing

Don't underestimate the importance of fertilizing. Water and dirt provide decent nutrients, but what you really need is fertilizer to help it get all the vitamins it needs. Depending on your type of grass and your climate, you should be using some sort of fertilizer at least a couple times a year. Most people do it in the fall and spring. This is a simple process that will take little time, but will make a huge difference in your results.

By avoiding these things you can get the grass you've always wanted. Talk to a landscaper, like Sergio's Lawn Service, for more help.

About Me
Technology Makes Landscaping Easier Than Ever

When I was young, I loved helping my mother in the garden. Our yard was filled with plants and flowers that she kept in immaculate condition. Once I was an adult and bought my first home, I learned that there was much more to landscaping a yard than I ever imagined! After a little trial and error planting a few flowers in my yard that died quickly, I realized the technology that is available to aspiring gardeners makes trial and error a thing of the past. After I found out what my "hardiness zone" was, I realized I was planting flowers made for much cooler climates, and I played around with software that let me design my yard very easily! I learned a lot throughout the experience, so I thought I would share my tips with everyone who needs them. Come back often to check out my new tips!
